Memory and Retention: How can Parents Model children focus on sharpening learning ability

Are you interested to know how one might go about sharpening child's focus and concentrating on studying? There are a variety of exercises that one could try to help ease this transition for your child. A young child may find it difficult at first but with practice, and using the following activities we can make a huge difference. When it comes down to making sure a child can understand the logic behind learning new skills: having a healthy diet; developing physical fitness; doing what they can to avoid stress; getting enough quality sleep; spending time in their home with others who love them, everything plays its role.

Growing up, the child should be exposed to several tips. The most simple thing is practicing Sudoku or any other related logic game, as this will help to develop logical thinking and an ability to understand the relationship between the numbers. As well, a fit body and mind can serve your child well in many situations. If they calm and ready to study, then they will have fewer distractions, which may allow them to concentrate better on their studies. Exposing your child to a fit body, calm mind, healthy relationship, mutual sharing and learning, and a house full of love are other practices the parents must focus on.

The parents of many children are worried because their child is not able to concentrate on any task for a long time. Due to this, they find it difficult to think deeply or focus on anything or they cannot even bring their attention to any one thing for a long time. If the parents are growing extremely worried about this, they should not be overly worried because it is a common thing.

This is not just a common problem of students but they have been facing this problem since childhood. Sometimes they cannot concentrate on the lessons given by the teacher. Also, they cannot learn things that are taught by the teacher. Many students desperately ask their parents to take them to a doctor. Psychiatrists also suggest that there is a serious issue. So parents should be careful regarding this issue. If you are facing the same issue, then here are some great ways to help your child to improve their concentration level.

Stop pitting it against the ability of the child

We must understand that children who fail to focus on education are not responsible for their success or failure; this must be said of the parents and teachers encouraging them. There might be certain factors or situations which make it difficult for a child to learn despite their best efforts; if we don’t consider these factors, we may not succeed in helping our children.

We need to remember that children’s inability to focus on their study material is not always entirely their fault. A child’s failure to learn may be the result of several different circumstances including factors from both your and your child’s perspective. As a parent or teacher, it's important to acknowledge this and try new tactics instead of giving up. We also need to understand that children are not capable of focusing on their studies and that this is an entirely separate issue from whether a parent, teacher or another individual might also be responsible for the lack of interest in these subjects.

Provide the best possible environment to learn

One of the main reasons why children can't learn is that they are not in the best possible environment to do so. The anxiety and fear of them being unable to go home or carry out their daily activities without getting into trouble often make them feel like they are not able to focus on their work or studies. This is why we need a situation where they are comfortable with their environment and can focus on the subject, be it studies or anything else. The failure can knowingly or unknowingly happen to any of the people involved in the field of education. The teacher is also not able to give the desired outcome because of certain reasons and situations. We, as parents and teachers, need to understand the situation and act accordingly to bring about a change.

If the child cannot concentrate, no one can tell him how to possess and gain it. For example, some kids are slow learners and badly need to be encouraged. But there is no positive result gained by rebuking and blaming him for failure. It is a natural quality that you need to understand and make him realize his capability.

Children mimic their elders

Children do mimic their elders, in most cases. This is often visible in children’s behavior as they like to copy what they have observed of others. By watching others work diligently at something, children are more able to understand how someone else likes to achieve their goals and so it is understandable that by observing your hard work ethic many will be inspired to be brave enough to try.

This is why we need you to bring an example of hard work to those whom you care dearly so that they can feel better about themselves by seeing the kind of effort required to ' get things done.’ Being conscious of your actions should produce the best results towards achieving this goal, because - after all - ‘action speaks louder than words.

Provide your child with age-appropriate books

Children's books are meant to encourage good reading habits. This starts with age-appropriate books. Books should be written using simple language and content that a child can connect with. Engage children in a meaningful manner. The content should be such in a child could connect herself with the content. The nature of content should engage a child in a meaningful manner.

The content should be based on real-life examples so that children could relate to themselves. The content should also be age-suitable, i.e simple, colorful, and engaging. The content should be such that even an illiterate person can understand the same. The content should be such that it should involve the child in the story and they should be eager to know the ending. They should not be able to predict the ending.

As a parent or tutors, we need to build a healthy relationship with the child. Mutual sharing and frequent dialogues should be there for great mutual bonding. A healthy relationship and a fear-free environment provoke learning.

Encourage the child

Encourage your child with loads of encouragement, confidence, and motivation – this is exactly how you can help a distracted child. It has been said, ‘Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.’ If you want to conquer the world, it doesn’t matter how slow one goes as long as one doesn’t stop. So have lively discussions always with the child.

Boost their self-confidence

It’s important that as a parent you know how to boost your child’s confidence, and motivation, and build their self-esteem. One simple way to be sure you’re doing a good job is by encouraging your child – whether by using words or actions - to reach for their goals and help them realize their dream no matter how high they may be. We’re often told ‘the harder you work the luckier you get,’ so try never to let up on your encouragement, especially if it seems your child may need some extra inspiration as they go out into the world to follow their path.

It's important to determine what the purpose of a task or assignment is. The nature of a project should be made clear in advance. If a student does not understand what an assignment is for, it will reduce the likelihood that he'll complete it correctly. The nature of the assignments should be productive. Don't leave any room for boredom in an assignment or exercise you give to your child. The projects, tasks, and exercises assigned shouldn't be overly easy but rather small and attainable tasks that a child can complete with ease as will their interests and skills allow.

Find ways to distract the child from boredom

While it can be difficult to fight off constantly distracted children, there are some helpful ways to beat that. One of the most effective things you can do as a parent is to build up their confidence, self-esteem, and motivation. You can do this by giving them a lot of encouragement, confidence, and motivation. For example, 'You can do it. I believe in you. You're so smart.' This helps a distracted child to focus on the task at hand. It is also helpful to encourage them to have lively dialogues, such as 'Tell me what it is that you're feeling.' And lastly, be a positive role model for them. Just by modeling positive behavior for them every day, you'll help them in their development.

Don't forget to maintain an open dialogue with them because there are few relationships more powerful than a parent and their child.
